School

the front entrance of the Meadow Lane Elementary building

Our mission is to educate, inspire, and empower each student to be a life-long learner.

Located just north of a now nationally recognized downtown Lee’s Summit, Meadow Lane opened in 1972. At the time, it was the eighth elementary school in Lee’s Summit and was almost completely surrounded by farms. Since then, the gradual transformation of this farm land into residential communities has been paralleled with additional phases of growth for the school.

Today, Meadow Lane has had five principals since its conception. It is a learning community where students and staff collaboratively work together. Student leadership opportunities include Student Council, Bengal Book Exchange, School Store, and Safety Patrol. Traditions at Meadow Lane include a monthly spirit assembly where students showcase their talents, knowledge, and accomplishments, along with an annual community-wide Veterans’ recognition ceremony. We come together as a school community to recognize and celebrate academic achievement and high-quality citizenship. Being a student at Meadow Lane means walking in a rich heritage of learning and carrying the responsibility of passing on a legacy to future generations.
